Welcome Parents and Student
school year. I am excited to be your child's Social Studies teacher this year. I have been teaching American History for eight years, and love to share my passion for history with middle school students. I come to teaching with a varied background from the real world. I have also travelled extensively and love to share my adventures with my students as well. I usually can be seen driving around town with my kayak on my car.
Students this year will be learning economics, geography, and civics, along with the emphasis on American History. We will be doing a variety of learning activities including lecture and note taking, reading, discussion, projects, cooperative and collaborative work, and learning games.
I have high expectations for success in my classroom. Students are expected to come to class prepared each day prepared, pay attention, and participate fully in class, and demonstrate respect for the teacher and classmates at all times.I try to encourage students to take responsibility for their own success in my classroom. But at the same time, I know they will need my assistance,, encouragement, and a well-meaning nudge now and then.However, disruptions to the learning processes of others will not be tolerated.
