Class Information
Introductory FACS (FACS I)
Students will be exploring areas such as culinary arts, sewing and life skills. Food labs will consist of learning kitchen safety, sanitation procedures, measuring techniques, and basic cooking techniques. Students will also be working on sewing projects, beginning with hand sewing. Life skills will include the areas of decision making, goal setting, and friendship.
FACS (FACS II)
A prerequisite to taking FACS is Introductory FACS. Students in FACS will also explore areas such culinary arts, sewing and life skills. Food labs will consist of intermediate cooking techniques. Students will be introduced to the sewing machine. Life skills will include career exploration.
Advanced FACS (FACS III)
Advanced FACS is taken after the completion of Introductory FACS and FACS. Students will be involved in advanced cooking techniques with an emphasis in careers in culinary arts. Students will also work on Food and Nutrition. The Food Guide Pyramid will be used to teach Nutrition while incorporating the importance of daily activity.
